When Caving Takes a Backseat… The End of my 2025 Morel Mushroom Season

I know most of y’all are here for the caving adventures, but every spring something else completely takes over my brain, MOREL MUSHROOM HUNTING!
This year’s season started about two weeks later than usual (compared to the last two years), and I think that late start definitely affected the overall numbers. We had a much colder winter, with several hard freezes so instead of finding them in early March, I didn't find my first ones this year until March 22nd. I still had a blast getting out in the woods and even found a brand-new spot this year, which was super exciting!
Final count for the 2025 season has come to 167 morels found! Not too shabby considering the late bloom.
Thanks for watching along on this seasonal detour from caving, but don’t worry, cave content will be back next week. But for now, enjoy this peek into one of my other favorite spring obsessions!
