We Went Back Inside a Cave That Was Closed for Decades

We’re back! Join us as we revisit this incredible cave near Tullahoma, Tennessee. One that was closed off from cavers for more than 30 years. After being mapped in the late 1980s by a small survey team, the cave was closed by the landowners and left untouched for decades. Thanks to the current owners, we were allowed access and have been among the first cavers to step back inside.

Now, we’ve returned for another round of exploration. On our first trip, we were blown away by what we found: over 10,000 feet of mapped passage, massive boreholes, deep vertical pits that remain unexplored, unstable breakdown, and climbs that pushed our skills to the limit. Not to mention the fascinating traces of history such as ancient bear claw marks in the walls, huge deposits of old bat guano, and a perfectly preserved underground world frozen in time.

In this revisit, we dive even deeper into the cave’s mysteries, push further into passage, and get a fresh perspective on this rare and untouched underground system. We also visit a formation area that we did not visit on our previous trip.

If you’re passionate about exploration, history, or the raw beauty of caves, this return trip is one you won’t want to miss.
