Join us as we set out to explore a local cave in Marion County, Tennessee. With the recent snowfall beginning to melt, what better way to spend the day than venturing into a wet, multi-drop cave?
This cave’s traditional route features three drops, with the entrance dramatically positioned beside a waterfall that cascades in from the creek bed above. The second and third drops follow immediately after, both adding to the adventure with their steady drips as you descend deeper underground.
Last year, a good friend of ours completed a traverse through the cave and discovered a new, parallel 90-foot pit that bypasses the second and third drops, offering a more direct descent. Unfortunately, due to the conditions inside the cave on the day of our visit, we missed the bypass and ended up taking the traditional route.
Upon reaching the bottom, we explored the known passage for about 1,000 feet, taking in the incredible underground landscape. Though we didn’t get to try the new pit this time, the journey through this dynamic and water-filled cave was an unforgettable experience!
