Come along as we explore a previously undocumented cave, which was hidden in plain sight! For years, locals have known about this cave, but it never made its way onto the documented caves list by cavers - until now.
My new friend Ty, a local from the next county over, reached out with a lead that had a higher elevation entrance. When that didn’t pan out, he took me to a lower spring cave instead… and that’s where the real adventure began! On our first trip, we explored at least 1,000 feet of cave passage before stopping in going passage, knowing we’d need to return better prepared.
Three days later, Jason and I came back with Ty to push it even farther. We brought him a helmet to wear and we pushed and explored the cave to at least 4,000 feet! After two solid trips underground, I think it's safe to say we’ve turned Ty into a caver!
Join us for the full adventure as we break new ground, explore unknown passages, and document this incredible cave for the first time!
The main entrance is a climb down slope for 15’. The cave continues as a mostly walking passage in a stream heading south, southwest for approximately 4000 feet. There are multiple upper level, dry paleo passages that intersect the main stream passage and are littered with breakdown. The cave terminates as a low wet crawl that is too low to continue. The cave was shown to Kelly Smallwood by a local, Ty Flippo on March 6, 2025 and was explored by Kelly, Ty, and Jason Hardy on March 9, 2025.
