Landowner Strikes Caver Gold Digging Open a Cave with a Track Hoe

Come along with us as we return to a local landowners property here in Franklin County, Tennessee where he has dug open a spring cave with a track hoe for us to explore! We visited this property back in May and had explored some known caves and even starting digging on a good blowing lead. One of the caves that we were not able to get into that day was a spring cave. It was pushing out a lot of water the day we were there and had since dried up. Given the opportunity, the landowner used a track hoe to dig it out for us so we could easily get into it to explore.

When we arrived on site, it didn't take us long to get in. Less than 30 minutes, a few (large) rocks later, and we were off to scooping some virgin cave booty. We normally do not scoop this much cave but given the weather forecast for the coming week (rain every day) and the location of the cave, we made the decision to see as much as the cave as we possibly could while we could. Unfortunately, there was rain in the forecast so we were not able to see everything but we will be back to push and explore it more and even start a survey! Jason estimates we saw about 2,000 feet of cave during our scoop-a-thon! More to come...
