This short video was created as part of a presentation I gave at the South Pittsburg Library here in Marion County, Tennessee. I used it at the very beginning of my talk to grab the audience’s attention and set the tone for what caving is all about, adventure, exploration, and the hidden beauty beneath our feet.

Marion County is home to a truly remarkable underground world, with over 750 known caves documented within the county. In fact, our area is considered one of the most cave-dense regions in the entire country. Among those are more than 37 vertical pits that are deeper than 100 feet! It's a playground for cave enthusiasts, scientists, and explorers alike.

My goal with the presentation was to introduce the audience, many of whom were kids and young students, to the fascinating world that exists right here in their own backyard. Caving is not only thrilling, it’s also a great way to learn about geology, biology, teamwork, and responsibility.

I hope this short intro video sparked some curiosity and excitement, and maybe even inspired the next generation of cavers to start exploring and protecting the underground wonders of Marion County.
