Come along with us as we take you on a trip deep into this beautiful multi mile long massive river cave here in Tennessee. This cave has been mapped to over four miles (20K+ feet) in length and has plenty of large passage to explore and formations to see. But don't let all that BOREHOLE blind you as there are still some small gnarly one foot high crawls as well that lead off to an area in the cave labeled as the "Death Room" on the map. Not knowing exactly what this was, we of course wanted to see it. After doing some route finding in some low crawls, we found our way up into the room by following a massive amount of blowing air. Once up in this room, it was obvious why it was called the death room as there are massive breakdown rocks everywhere and some that are precariously hanging from the ceiling. There were two inflowing streams and a lot of air comes from this passage. While no one has ever physically made the connection, it is suspected that this cave hydrologically connects with another multi drop vertical cave further up in the cove.
While exploring the stream passage, we came across some stromatolites, which are trace fossils that were created by micro organisms and are some of the oldest known life on earth.
