Come along as we visit this popular open-air pit in Alabama to see some glow worms! During the summer months, Glow worms (Orfelia fultoni) inhabit the ledges along this pit in the thousands! These types of glow worms are also called Dismalites and they are only found in three places in the world; New Zealand, Australia, and the southern US.
Please note a permit is required (& was obtained) to visit this pit. Vertical skills are also required. You cannot see the glow worms here unless you rappel 162 feet down to the bottom and climb back up.
