Come along with us as we venture south into a Florida cave with our good friends, Kevin, Jamy, & Brody. They arranged a trip for us with a Tampa Bay Area Grotto member Derick who showed us all the special things this cave has to offer.
One of the biggest differences between this cave and one in TAG (Tennessee, Alabama, Georgia) is the temperature! This cave was 72 degrees, which is about 14 degrees warmer than our caves. While this doesn't seem like much, you sure can feel it when you are in the cave. Luckily, this cave also has a nice spring that we could swim in and cool off in between the walking and crawling passages.
Another thing worth nothing about this cave is the impressive fossils inside including those from sea urchins, sand dollars, and even sea shells.
