Come along with us as we visit a cave on the Tommy's Lazy G property in Union Grove, Alabama where the 2024 TAG Fall Cave In was hosted this year. This through trip cave ended up being quite the popular cave to visit during this years event. Since we were vending (selling gear), we decided to hit it up before the crowds got there. On Thursday around noon, we along with Mike Green, the owner of Inner Mountain Outfitters in Chattanooga, Tennessee decided to do the through trip. Jason and I had previously done the trip in 2019 when the SERA Summer Cave Carnival was hosted on this site by the Huntsville Grotto so we knew what to expect. You start out by going down a 116' vertical pit and you then make your way through some crawls and eventually into a passage known as Swan Lake. In the Swan Lake passage the ceiling lowers and there are long pools of water. According to the map, there is one foot of air space over one foot of water here. After coming out of this passage there is a side passage with a lot of pretties. We ended the trip with the last short drop and then a crawl out of the entrance. It took us approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes to complete the trip. It sure was nice being able to walk back down into camp afterwards.
