Join Jason and me as we head way down into the Deep Southern Parts of Alabama for an adventure packed with caves, hidden springs, millions of year old fossils, and even a run-in with some local wildlife!
On this trip, we tracked down the southernmost cave in Alabama. While the cave itself is unfortunately gated, it’s for a good reason as it protects federally endangered bats that call it home. From there, we explored some beautiful hidden springs and even came across marine fossils millions of years old, a reminder that this land was once beneath the ocean.
And if that wasn’t enough, our vehicle got attacked, okay, maybe just invaded, by the huge banana spiders that thrive in this part of Alabama. We know they’re harmless to humans, but oh my, the size of these spiders will definitely get your attention!
This adventure has a little bit of everything: the underground, crystal-clear waters, ancient history, and a few surprises along the way. Come along for the journey and see what we discovered!
