Digging Deep To Try and Open Up A New Cave

Join us as we work to uncover what could be a brand-new cave here in Tennessee! For a cave to officially qualify, it must extend either 30 feet vertically or 50 feet horizontally—but based on the elevation of this blowing lead, we believe there’s potential for a pit deeper than 100 feet. Now that would be an incredible discovery!

Watch along as we put in the work using a variety of hand tools, including a 3-pound sledgehammer, a pry bar, and an army shovel to dig out the passage. To tackle the rock, we're bringing in some extra power—a 1980s Hilti gas-powered hammer drill to break through and push forward.

Will we break through to something big? You’ll have to watch and find out!
